Girls Soccer Registration Open

Varsity Girls Crusader Soccer
open to homeschooled girls, ages 11-18.

Cost for the 2013 season is $200 per player. $100 is due at time of registration, and the remaining $100 by February 24th. This fee covers athlete insurance, field rental, league fees, officials, equipment, uniform, and more. (Families in need of financial assistance, please contact Dave Farrington, at the email on the website. We can provide some options for earning part of the registration fee).  It is possible we will offer a JV or Middle School team in addition, depending on numbers.  Registration for this group will be less.  It will be more clear how many players we will have after registration is in full swing.

All training sessions/practices are held at Church of the Open Door, 4445 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville, just off of All-American Expressway.  There is a possibility that we will have to move at some point, as they are planning on reworking the field, but we’ll plan to be there til we see something different develop.

Soccer skills/conditioning/training sessions begin Tuesday, January 22, 2013 and will be held every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm – 6pm (or dark if it comes earlier). Cost for these sessions are $2 per athlete per session. Once registration fee and paperwork are turned in, athletes no longer need to pay the $2 fee.  We may also add some sessions where we get pizza and watch parts of soccer games from high level teams/leagues to help us have a better feel for the game, either right after practice or in place of practice on some inclement days.  We will also be having a more informal session on Mondays which I will talk about at the other training sessions.

We will probably be participating in a pre-season tournament at the end of February, then continue practices from there. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4-6pm on any days we don’t have a game. Our regular season will start in March (games mostly on Tuesdays and Fridays) and wrap up with the NCHE State Tournament, in May in Winston-Salem.

We will be focusing on being fit and improving our ball skills this year, as well as refining how we play as a team together, so between now and start of training you can work on building stamina by running distance and doing sprint type running, and also by doing ball touch exercises with a ball in your backyard.  Let Coach Gary Poling know if you want some assistance in setting up a program, and he will give you some things to work on.
