Crusader Volleyball
Looking for an amazing advanced camp? Leo Sayles, head volleyball coach at Gardner-Webb University, is coming back to Fayetteville June 17-19. Experienced players in grades 7 through 12 are invited to 3 days of intense volleyball training. Cost for this camp is $160; athletes who are rostered on a Crusader squad for the 2013 season will receive a $25 credit towards their registration. This is an incredible (and very reasonable) opportunity to learn from a Division I coach! Space is limited to 40 campers. If you are interested in continuing to play volleyball in college, don’t miss this chance to get feedback from a high level coach. Coach Sayles is both a gifted coach and dedicated Christian.
Crusader Varsity and Junior Varsity Tryouts for the 2013 season will consist of two parts:
#1 Attendance at the Intermediate/Advanced Camp
#2 Tryout session on June 27th from 3:00-5:00
Middle School athletes do not have to tryout. They will receive an evaluation prior to the start of the season.
Athletes are expected to attend both of these events. If you are unable to attend both due to financial reasons or family conflicts, you may request the option of attending at least 2 skills sessions to replace one of the above components. If you cannot attend either, we will work with you to attempt to find an appropriate solution. 50% of registration fee is due at tryouts ($100). The balance is due no later than August 15th. If for any reason athletes are not placed on a squad, registration fees (excluding camp credit) will be refunded.
Generally, JV players must be at least 14 years old and no older than 16 on Sept 1, 2013 and V players must be at least 14 and in 9th grade and no older than 18 on Sept 1, 2013. Thirteen year olds may try out for JV by coach invitation only. Middle School is open to ages 10-13.
Regular Season practices start the first week of August. You can plan for 4x per week for the first two weeks, dropping to twice a week plus games following that. The season wraps up in late October with the NCHEAC Volleyball Tournament.
